Campo Imperatore Ski Resort:
The Campo Imperatore Ski Resort, located at the foot of the Mt Corno Grande (the highest peak of the central Apennines), is the oldest, as well as the highest, ski area of the Apennines.
Frequent snowfalls and high mountain temperatures ensure the presence of natural snow on the ski tracks for a period of about six months a year: from November to April.
The ski area consists of three ski lifts for a total of over 15 kilometers of alpine ski tracks. We mention also the presence of a Hotel and a hostel where refreshing and resting during the winter sports days.
The most famous tracks are articulated on Mount Scindarella and on the valley of the Fontari. It also has a snowboard snow park, with half pipe and cross-board ski cross, and a cross-country ski ring.
During the nice weather days, from the peak of Mt Scindarella, you will enjoy a breathtaking view that will allow you to clearly distinguish the Adriatic Sea to the East and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the West.
What makes Campo Imperatore Ski Resort a special and unique ski area are the two natural tracks for Nordic skiing "free ride" of Valle Fredda and the Valloni. Those two tracks will lead you down straight to the valley and exactly at Fonte Cerreto but can only be run in low risk avalanche periods and are not recommended to any beginner skier.
The ski area is connected to the valley by the Gran Sasso cableway and has a large car park and other facilities in Fonte Cerreto.
The price of the ticket depends on the period, the day of the week, and the amount of skilifts you want to use. There is the possibility to buy a half-day or full-day ticket and there is a price reduction for children and students.
We mention also the presence of a Hotel and a hostel where refreshing and resting during the winter sports days.
